Azerbaijani President: The successful models of autonomy applied in Europe can also be applied in Nagorno Karabakh

The head of state said thanks to the policy pursued by the national leader, the foundation of the development was laid in Azerbaijan, reforms were launched, ceasefire agreement was reached. In 1994 “The Contract of the Century” was signed in the oil sphere, the important factor for the country’s development.
“Our cooperation with the leading companies of the world, usage of their experience strengthened our economy. Today, Azerbaijan is the initiator of a number of important economic projects,” he said.

President noted that Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno Karabakh conflict is the biggest problem for Azerbaijan and this problem is a threat not only for Azerbaijan, but for entire region. Head of State said Azerbaijan faced with ethnic cleansing by Armenia and there are about one million refugees and internally displaced persons in the country. “Unfortunately the situation is not yet changed. The resolutions adopted by the UN and other international organizations have not been fulfilled yet”.

President said Azerbaijan is a tolerant country and different peoples and religious sects are living in peace and welfare here and the country is proud of that. Head of State noted that the successful models of autonomy applied in Europe can also be applied in Nagorno Karabakh.
